Baseball Recap: Hurley Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Hurley challenged Billings on Monday. The Tigers fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 6-4. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Wildcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Caysen Youngblood was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. That one earned run gave him a new career-low. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Youngblood wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Dunn, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Andrew Escobar also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Hurley's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13-1. As for Billings, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hurley will welcome Chadwick at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.57 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Billings, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Crane at 5:30 p.m.
