Softball Recap: Streator Comes Up Short

Streator lost against Coal City back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Bulldogs fell 7-4 to the Coalers.

Makenna Ondrey was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Ondrey was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.

In other batting news, Morgan Kostal was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Streator has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Coal City, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

While Streator had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Tuesday.
