Baseball Game Preview: Shelby County Wildcats vs. Tuscaloosa Academy Knights

The Shelby County Wildcats will head out to challenge the Tuscaloosa Academy Knights at 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Shelby County nor Tuscaloosa Academy posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Shelby County's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Enterprise on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that Shelby County has lost by exactly three runs.

Shelby County got a good showing from Andrew Knight, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Knight posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

On the hitting side, Shelby County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cale Blevins, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Tuscaloosa Academy came up short against Sipsey Valley on Thursday and fell 4-1.

Tuscaloosa Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Shelby County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.
