Basketball Recap: Tahoka Comes Up Short

Tahoka lost against Floydada back in January of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Tahoka Bulldogs took a 69-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Floydada Whirlwinds. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Tahoka lost, don't look at Brogan Stone. Despite the final result, he went 6 of 9 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and six rebounds. Stone is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Caleb Watt, who posted five points and eight boards.

Even though they lost, Tahoka was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Floydada had a senior duo take command as Braun Hobbs dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards and Sergio Valadez dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards. The contest was Hobbs' eighth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrean Henderson, who put up 13 points and six boards.

Tahoka's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Floydada, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-7.

Tahoka didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 54-42 win against Haskell on the 27th. As for Floydada, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 74-68 loss against Lorenzo on the 26th.
