Recap: Randleman Tigers vs. Wheatmore Warriors
There's no place like home for the Randleman Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road on Wednesday. They strolled past Wheatmore with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 50-36. Given Randleman's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 203rd, while Wheatmore is ranked 566th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Randleman got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Connor Cassidy out in front who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Cassidy pulled down eight or more rebounds. Jireh Price was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Wheatmore's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Robert Nyamongo, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Nyamongo pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Bryant, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Randleman now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Wheatmore, they are on a eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Randleman will take on Ledford at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wheatmore, they will head out on the road to face off against Trinity at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Wheatmore likes a good challenge.
