Softball Recap: South Davidson Extends Winning Streak to Four

South Davidson waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Thomasville Bulldogs 19-4. That's two games straight that the Wildcats have won by exactly 15 runs.

Payton Cook made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, South Davidson got a massive performance out of Anna Smith, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Those three runs gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Cook, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

South Davidson pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.3 runs over those games. As for Thomasville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

Looking ahead, South Davidson will face off against East Davidson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Wildcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Thomasville, they are taking a road trip to square off against Lexington at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs are facing the Yellowjackets at the right time seeing as the Yellowjackets are stuck on a ten-game losing streak.
