Baseball Game Preview: Owego Free Academy River Hawks vs. Chenango Valley Warriors

For the second straight game, Owego Free Academy will face off against Chenango Valley. The River Hawks will host the Warriors at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Owego Free Academy has four straight victories, Chenango Valley has four straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Wednesday, Owego Free Academy earned a 5-1 win over Chenango Valley.

Mathew Lewis looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Owego Free Academy let Conlan Taylor and Connor Kotski run wild. Taylor got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Kotski went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most hits Kotski has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Matt Higgins, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Chenango Valley now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Owego Free Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2-1.
