Basketball Recap: Nazareth Prep Piles Up the Points Against Perry Traditional Academy

Nazareth Prep had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They blew past the Perry Traditional Academy Commodores, posting a 76-19 win. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Commodores are ranked 708th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Nazareth Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Will Evans Jr led the charge by going 7 of 10 on his way to 14 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Evans Jr is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 12 games he's played. Leon Harrison Jr. was another key player, going 7 for 12 en route to 18 points and five assists.

Nazareth Prep pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for Perry Traditional Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-12.

Nazareth Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-36 win against Summit Academy on the 31st. Perry Traditional Academy has also already played their next game, an 81-48 defeat against Carrick on the 31st.
