Baseball Game Preview: James Buchanan Rockets vs. West Perry Mustangs

The James Buchanan Rockets will face off against the West Perry Mustangs at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

James Buchanan had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Delone Catholic on Friday. James Buchanan put the hurt on Delone Catholic with a sharp 14-1 victory. With that win, the Rockets brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.

Carter Hissong made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Hissong was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, Jake Miller and Jimmy Bell did most of the damage at the plate: Miller scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Bell went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Bell has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Parker Summers, who scored four runs while going 2-for-4.

James Buchanan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

While West Perry didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Annville-Cleona 9-3 on Saturday.

James Buchanan's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for West Perry, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-1.

James Buchanan was able to grind out a solid victory over West Perry in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 12-7. Will James Buchanan repeat their success, or does West Perry has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
