Recap: Northside Patriots vs. Union Grove Wolverines
The Northside Patriots suffered their biggest defeat since November 29, 2023 on Saturday. They were outmatched by Union Grove on the road and fell 56-28. While losing is never fun, Northside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 305th, while Union Grove is ranked eighth).
Northside got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
Zariah Davis and
ZaKyra Mcgee, who each put up seven points. Mcgee also led the team in rebounds with seven.
Jordan Brooks was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with eight assists and three steals for Union Grove. Brooks has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 15 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Parson, who scored seven points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
Northside dropped their record down to 6-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Union Grove, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.
Northside and Harris County will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Harris County will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Union Grove, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Locust Grove at 6:00 p.m. Locust Grove is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
