Soccer Game Preview: Catholic vs. Benedictine

The Catholic Crusaders will take on the Benedictine Cadets at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Catholic is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Virginia's top teams: Norfolk Academy, who was ranked ninth at the time (Catholic was ranked 24th). Neither the Crusaders nor the Bulldogs could gain the upper hand on Tuesday so the two teams had to settle for a 1-1 draw. The result kept Catholic happy, as they haven't lost a game since September 12th.

Their goal came courtesy of Alessandro Guillen, who's now up to seven this season.

Meanwhile, Benedictine entered their tilt with St. Christopher's on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They never let the Saints get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. Considering Benedictine have won four matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Benedictine's victory bumped their record up to 6-1-1. Catholic's draw gives them a new season record of 5-7-2.

Catholic beat Benedictine by a goal when the teams last played back in September of 2024, winning 2-1. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Cadets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
