Harlingen scored the most points they've had this season on Thursday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 38-37 to the Mission Veterans Memorial Patriots. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Harlingen lost, don't look at Noah Huerta. Despite the final result, he rushed for 175 yards and three scores.

Even if they lost, Harlingen's defensive line still kept up the pressure with four sacks. Mission Veterans Memorial's QB won't forget Rodriguez Rocky anytime soon given he sacked him twice.

Roman Reyna had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 160 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.0 yards per carry, and also throwing for 249 yards and one TD for Mission Veterans Memorial. Those 160 rushing yards gave Reyna a new career-high. Benjamin Martinez was another key player, picking up 138 receiving yards.

Harlingen dropped their record down to 1-4 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Harlingen didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-27 defeat against Cuero on the 3rd. As for Mission Veterans Memorial, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 42-19 win against Hanna on the 2nd.
