Softball Game Preview: Nandua Warriors vs. Arcadia Firebirds

The Nandua Warriors will take on the Arcadia Firebirds at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Nandua nor Arcadia posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Nandua came up short against Chincoteague on Thursday, falling 13-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Warriors have suffered against the Ponies since May 10, 2022.

Meanwhile, Arcadia fell victim to Broadwater Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings. The loss continues a trend for the Firebirds in their meetings with the Vikings: they've now lost seven in a row.

Arcadia saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Megan Montross, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Montross has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

Nandua has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Arcadia, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Everything went Nandua's way against Arcadia in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Nandua made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Firebirds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
