Softball Game Preview: Cumberland Dukes vs. Nottoway Cougars

Cumberland is 1-9 against Nottoway since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Dukes are taking a road trip to take on the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Randolph-Henry hit Cumberland with a six-run fourth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Dukes took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Statesmen.

A. Mitchell made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one stolen base. E. Karst also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Nottoway's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (3-2), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.

Cumberland's record is now 2-8. As for Nottoway, their record now sits at 11-5.
