Softball Recap: French Settlement's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

French Settlement dropped their record down to 15-12 on Monday, which also ended the team's five-game streak of wins at home. They fell just short of the Denham Springs Yellowjackets by a score of 6-4. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.

Malloy Miles put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Miles wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Amelia Roshto, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Hadley Spellman was another, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

As for Denham Springs, with the victory, they broke their six-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-19. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since March 14th.

Like French Settlement, Denham Springs also got a great game from a two-way player: Paisley Berry. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned runs off 11 hits. Berry was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Anna Herod, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

French Settlement wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 16-0 loss against Walker on the 15th. Denham Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
