Baseball Recap: Smithfield Takes a Loss

Smithfield lost to Poquoson back in April of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Packers came up short against the Bull Islanders, falling 11-1. The Packers' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Smithfield saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Waycaster, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those stolen bases marked the first that Waycaster has snagged this season.

Smithfield's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Poquoson, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Smithfield is set to face off against their familiar foe Lafayette at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Poquoson will challenge rival York at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
