Basketball Recap: Jayden Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Andover Central over Andover

Andover Central lost against Andover back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Andover Central Jaguars fell to the Andover Trojans 59-54.

Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Brown, who went 7-for-13 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points. That's the most points Brown has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ethan Balke, who went 5-for-7 on his way to 14 points.

Andover's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Walker McClellan led the charge by going 10-for-13 to rack up 23 points and seven rebounds. Joshua Kim was another key player, going 5-for-9 en route to 11 points in addition to seven boards and five assists.

Andover Central's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Andover, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season.

The future could be bright for both Andover Central and Andover: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Andover Central will try to hand South their third-straight loss when the two meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Similarly, Andover will look to extend Arkansas City's seven-game losing streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
