Softball Recap: New Ulm Comes Up Short

New Ulm was the 6-0 winner over Mankato West when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Scarlets on Monday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

New Ulm's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Mankato West, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

New Ulm and Mankato West should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings. The Eagles will face off against Belle Plaine at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (33 vs. 90). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (New Ulm 1.7, the Tigers 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Mankato West (ranked 28th) will meet John Marshall (ranked 212th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
