Baseball Game Preview: O'Connor Panthers vs. Sotomayor WILDCATS

A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers take on the WILDCATS at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. O'Connor's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Sotomayor's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

O'Connor had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Judson on Friday. O'Connor was the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over Judson. That looming 13-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Panthers yet this season.

The team relied heavily on James O'Connor, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Jayden Contreras, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run.

O'Connor wasn't the only one working in the home run department: O'Connor lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Judson didn't launched any home runs.

Meanwhile, Sotomayor beat MacArthur 6-3 on Saturday.

Jude Patino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits.

At the plate, Isaac Staten was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3. Wes Guardiola also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

O'Connor's record is now 4-2. As for Sotomayor, their record now sits at 4-2-1.

Everything went O'Connor's way against Sotomayor when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as O'Connor made off with an 11-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for O'Connor since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
