Recap: Cleburne Yellowjackets vs. Shoemaker Wolves
The Cleburne Yellowjackets lost against the Shoemaker Wolves back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Cleburne was dealt a 49-7 defeat at the hands of Shoemaker. While losing is never fun, Cleburne can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 457th, while Shoemaker is ranked 202nd).
Despite the loss, Cleburne saw an underclassman step up: Hayden Leifeste rushed for 143 yards and a touchdown.
Shoemaker was led to victory by Tyrieke Wade and Jerrod Hicks-Maddox. Wade rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, while Hicks-Maddox rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns on only six carries. Brandon Brown did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 81 receiving yards, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground.
Cleburne has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Shoemaker, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Cleburne will look to defend their home field on Friday against Waco at 7:00 p.m. Waco is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Shoemaker, they will head out on the road to face off against Killeen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
