Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Highlands

Highlands waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Jefferson Mustangs as they made off with a 47-26 win. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 28-3.

Highlands' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aaliyah Jackson, who posted 11 points. What's more, Jackson also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in January of 2024. Jaylynn Fematt was another key player, putting up 11 points and three steals.

The win got Highlands back to even at 17-17. As for Jefferson, their loss dropped their record down to 14-21.

Highlands has already played their next contest (against Seguin), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Jefferson will host Burbank at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Burbank knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 matchups -- so hopefully Jefferson likes a good challenge.
