Basketball Game Preview: Palmetto Mustangs vs. Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers

The Palmetto Mustangs will take on the Christ Church Episcopal Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Palmetto knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Christ Church Episcopal likes a good challenge.

Having struggled with five losses in a row, Palmetto turned things around against Southside Christian on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Sabres 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mustangs have posted since December 12, 2024.

Palmetto got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maj Mccoy out in front who went 6 for 9 en route to 17 points and three steals. Mccoy is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Young, who posted 13 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Christ Church Episcopal's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 58-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Powdersville.

Palmetto will have to contain Adam Brown as he made an impact in Christ Church Episcopal's last game. He had 19 points. Another player making a difference was Jonathan Perry, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points and five rebounds.

Christ Church Episcopal's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-5. As for Palmetto, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
