Baseball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Culver Academies

Culver Academies extended their winning streak to five on Tuesday, bumping their season record up to 5-1 in the process. They put the hurt on the South Central Satellites with a sharp 13-1 victory. That looming 13-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Eagles yet this season.

Jak Chaney tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nick Fumich, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one run. Ainsley Ritchie also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Culver Academies was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. The last time their batting average was this high was back in May of 2024.

As for South Central, they dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Having soared to a lofty 21 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On South Central's side, they got a good showing from Brody Grass, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

Coming up, Culver Academies will head out to take on Washington Township at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kouts at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
