Volleyball Recap: Mt. Vernon Wildcats vs. North Decatur Chargers
Mt. Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the North Decatur Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 2-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2023.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-15.
North Decatur can attribute much of their success to Hannah Gorrell, who had seven digs and two aces.
Mt. Vernon's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for North Decatur, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
Mt. Vernon will face off against Gibson Southern at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gibson Southern is coming into the contest with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Mt. Vernon will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for North Decatur, they will head out to challenge Oldenburg Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
