Softball Recap: Fountain Central Mustangs vs. North Vermillion Falcons

Fountain Central can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent contest in Saturday's second game. They were the clear victor by a 20-4 margin over the North Vermillion Falcons. While fans of Fountain Central might be used to big wins, the 16-run margin marked the team's biggest one yet.

Kacey Kirkpatrick was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Kirkpatrick has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive pitching appearances. Kirkpatrick was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Fountain Central got a massive performance out of Jacquelynn Weber, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and a triple. Weber is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last six games she's played. Zoe Foxworthy-DeJournett was another key contributor, scoring four runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4.

On North Vermillion's side, Addie Burns was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and a double.

The win made it two in a row for Fountain Central and bumps their season record up to 4-5. As for North Vermillion, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Fountain Central will head out on the road to square off against Seeger at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for North Vermillion, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Oakwood at 4:30 p.m. on April 23rd.
