Basketball Recap: Portland Adventist Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Faith Bible Christian/Life Christian

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Portland Adventist Academy). They secured a 76-71 W over Faith Bible Christian/Life Christian on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Cougars sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Leading Portland Adventist Academy to victory were Dane Petersen and Oliver Thompson. Petersen dropped a double-double on 32 points and 13 rebounds, while Thompson went 11 of 14 on his way to 25 points and seven boards. Petersen's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Martin Villa, who posted eight points in addition to nine boards and three steals.

Portland Adventist Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Portland Adventist Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Faith Bible Christian/Life Christian, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Portland Adventist Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Corbett at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025. Faith Bible Christian/Life Christian also won't see the court for a while: their next contest is against Open Door Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th.
