Baseball Game Preview: Mount Pleasant Green Knights vs. Christiana Vikings

The Mount Pleasant Green Knights will challenge the Christiana Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Mount Pleasant fell victim to Red Lion Christian Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lions. The loss continues a trend for the Green Knights in their meetings with the Lions: they've now lost six in a row.

Mount Pleasant saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Molina, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. Molina is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Meanwhile, Christiana came up short against Odyssey Charter on Saturday and fell 6-1. That's two games in a row now that the Vikings have lost by exactly five runs.

Mount Pleasant's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Christiana, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Mount Pleasant's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Green Knights have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Christiana, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mount Pleasant continue to outrun the ball?

Mount Pleasant took their victory against Christiana in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. Do the Green Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
