Softball Game Preview: Evangel Christian Lightning vs. Tuscaloosa Home Educators Warriors

The Evangel Christian Lightning are taking a road trip to face off against the Tuscaloosa Home Educators Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evangel Christian will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Tuesday, Evangel Christian made easy work of Trinity Christian and carried off an 18-2 win. The Lightning might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by seven runs or more this season.

Raylee Evans and Makayla Cranford did most of the damage at the plate: Evans went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three runs, while Cranford went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Evangel Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Tuscaloosa Home Educators fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Evangel Christian two weeks ago but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lightning by a score of 2-1. The Warriors have struggled against the Lightning recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Evangel Christian's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Tuscaloosa Home Educators, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Evangel Christian came out on top in a nail-biter against Tuscaloosa Home Educators in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Evangel Christian since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
