Volleyball Recap: Newton-Conover Starts Season with Defeat on the Road

Newton-Conover had to start their season on the road on Monday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 3-0 to the North Wilkes Vikings. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-10, 25-21.

Mollie Ross paced Newton-Conover's offense, picking up eight kills. Ross got some help from Maria Starnes and her seven assists. Ross was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Newton-Conover has already played their next matchup, a 3-1 loss against East Lincoln on the 12th. As for North Wilkes, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 win against Surry Central on the 12th.
