Softball Recap: Robinson Wins Going Away Against Mattoon

Robinson won against Mt. Carmel last Thursday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Everything went the Maroons' way against the Mattoon Greenwave as they made off with a 14-2 win. That 12 run margin sets a new team best for the Maroons this season.

The team relied heavily on Mallory Mosbey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brylee Yates, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Robinson hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mattoon struck out seven times.

The victory made it two in a row for Robinson and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Mattoon, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Robinson will challenge South Knox at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mattoon, they will face off against Charleston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Greenwave surely won't give up without a fight.
