Softball Recap: Tuesday's Defeat Ends Boyceville's Winning Streak

After a string of five wins, Boyceville's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Elk Mound Mounders by a score of 4-2. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Aubrey Malean spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Boyceville saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paige Fenton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Boyceville's loss dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Elk Mound, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boyceville will square off against Elmwood/Plum City at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Elk Mound, they will take on Spring Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.13 runs per game on average), something the Mounders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
