Soccer Game Preview: Layton vs. Weber

Layton is 0-10 against Weber since May of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Lancers will look to defend their home pitch against the Warriors at 3:30 p.m. Layton's last eight matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Layton will bounce into Friday's game after beating Fremont, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Lancers never let the Silverwolves get on the board and left with a 1-0 win on Wednesday. The victory was all the more spectacular given Layton's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah soccer rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Fremont are ranked tenth).

Layton's one-goal win came courtesy of Kyle Lemburg, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, while the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Weber who was credited with the win on Wednesday. The Warriors got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Syracuse's four. Weber haven't had any issues with Syracuse recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Weber's win bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Layton, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
