Basketball Preview: Waxahachie Indians vs. Mansfield Tigers

Waxahachie is 7-2 against the Tigers since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Waxahachie Indians will head out on the road to take on the Mansfield Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Waxahachie knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 games -- so hopefully the Tigers like a good challenge.

Even though Mansfield Legacy scored an imposing 61 points on Friday, Waxahachie still came out on top. Waxahachie came out on top in a nail-biter against the Broncos and snuck past 63-61. Given Waxahachie's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Broncos are ranked 242nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Parker Jefferson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below 18 points for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Rucker, who scored ten points.

Meanwhile, Mansfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were dealt a 79-51 defeat at the hands of Duncanville. Mansfield has not had much luck with the Panthers and Pantherettes recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.

Waxahachie is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. As for Mansfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-16 record this season.

Waxahachie strolled past the Tigers in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 67-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Waxahachie since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
