Baseball Game Preview: South Rebels vs. Mayfield Wildcats

For the second straight game, South will face off against Mayfield. The Rebels will face off against the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with seven straight losses, while Mayfield will come in with three straight wins.

South managed to slip by Mayfield the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Rebels came up short against the Wildcats on Monday, falling 12-2. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

For Mayfield's part, Ben Selby looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Claflin, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Frankie Menta also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Mayfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

The victory got Mayfield back to even at 3-3. As for South, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.
