Baseball Recap: Crimson Cliffs Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

Crimson Cliffs entered their tilt with Cedar on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 win over the Reds. That's two games straight that the Mustangs have won by exactly two runs.

Crimson Cliffs got a great performance from MADDEN SMITH as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Those hits were SMITH's first of the season.

At the plate, RYDER SHERRATT was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. JACKSON WITTWER was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4.

Crimson Cliffs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests.

Crimson Cliffs pushed their record up to 13-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Cedar, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Crimson Cliffs will square off against Snow Canyon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for Cedar, they will take on Desert Hills at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Reds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thunder have averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
