Basketball Recap: Paris Comes Up Short

Paris was the 57-41 winner over Canton when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Paris Coyotes lost to the Canton Tigers at home by a 60-44 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Coyotes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 488th, while the Tigers are ranked 96th).

It was another big night for Preston Brewer, who almost dropped a double-double with 34 points and nine boards for Canton. Brewer has been hot, having also posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tyler Frazier, who to rack up 11 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

Paris' loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Canton, they pushed their record up to 19-5 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Paris does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Canton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-57 victory against Kirksville on the 22nd.
