League recap: Blythewood tops Aiken to extend winning streak

Blythewood extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region IV this week by beating Aiken, 49-7. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

Richland Northeast and Sumter played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Richland Northeast eventually emerging with a 26-25 victory. A. C. Whaley threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 91 yards and caught one passes for 18 yards in the win.

The Cavaliers' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ryan Howell helped Richland Northeast's passing attack out by catching four balls for 27 yards.

Craishaud Foulks was the best wideout in the league this week as Richland Northeast bested the Fighting Gamecocks. Foulks tallied seven receptions for 121 yards.

Richland Northeast's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cavaliers feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Whaley has thrown for 1383 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Foulks has 36 catches for 608 yards. Whaley also leads the league in rushing with 181 yards.

Two of the top units in the league will face off this week when Jay Frye's team takes on Lugoff-Elgin. The Cavaliers' offense has recorded 164 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while the Demons have permitted only 246 on the year.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Blythewood takes on Spring Valley. Reggie Kennedy's team has allowed 86 points this season, while the Vikings have given up 98.

The Bengals took down the Fighting Green Hornets 49-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
