Baseball Game Preview: Bonita Springs Bullsharks vs. Gulf Coast Sharks

The Bonita Springs Bullsharks will head out to take on the Gulf Coast Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bonita Springs has three straight victories, Gulf Coast has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Monday, Bonita Springs made easy work of Lely and carried off an 18-7 win. Considering the Bullsharks have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Riley Proulx was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Jacob Estrada also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Proulx wasn't the only one making solid contact: Bonita Springs kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lely only managed one hit.

Meanwhile, Gulf Coast fell victim to Western and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. The game marked the first time this year in which the Sharks were not able to get on the board.

Bonita Springs pushed their record up to 15-8 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Gulf Coast, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-11.

Everything went Bonita Springs' way against Gulf Coast in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as Bonita Springs made off with an 8-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bullsharks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
