Basketball Game Preview: St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings vs. Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets

St. John's Catholic Prep and Chapelgate Christian Academy are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The St. John's Catholic Prep Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Chapelgate Christian Academy Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. John's Catholic Prep is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

St. John's Catholic Prep might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 75-72 to Annapolis Area Christian, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Eagles are ranked 45th).

Meanwhile, Chapelgate Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 46-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Paul's.

St. John's Catholic Prep will have to keep a close watch on Bryson Milledge and Mason Plater, a pair of players who had a big impact on Chapelgate Christian Academy's prior game. Milledge posted ten points and three steals, while Plater earned eight points in addition to five boards and three steals. That's the most steals Plater has posted since back in December of 2024.

St. John's Catholic Prep's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Chapelgate Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-16.

St. John's Catholic Prep didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Chapelgate Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in January, but they still walked away with a 61-56 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. John's Catholic Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
