Football Recap: Weaver Comes Up Short

Weaver extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-5. They had to suffer through a 56-19 loss at the hands of the Glencoe Yellowjackets. The Bearcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellowjackets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

As for Glencoe, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.3 points over those games.

Glencoe got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayman Mintz out in front who threw for 109 yards and three TDs while completing 92.3% of his passes. Mintz's passing game has become a key predictor of the Yellowjackets' success: the team is undefeated when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Isaiah Young was in the mix as well, providing Glencoe with two scores.

Weaver didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 36-34 victory against Locust Fork on the 10th. As for Glencoe, they have also already played their next contest, a 46-6 win against Saks on the 10th.
