Softball Game Preview: Louisville Wildcats vs. North Pontotoc Vikings

For the second straight game, Louisville will face off against North Pontotoc. The Wildcats will take on the Vikings at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Louisville has given up an average of 10.7 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Louisville fell victim to North Pontotoc and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 14-0. The Wildcats have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

For North Pontotoc's part, they got a great performance from Hailey Pitts as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Pitts has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

North Pontotoc is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Louisville, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11-1.

Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Louisville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .459. However, it's not like North Pontotoc struggles in that department as they've averaged .389. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
