Baseball Recap: Cross County Takes a Loss

Cross County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of the Harrisburg Hornets. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Troy Wallis was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Cross County's loss dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Harrisburg, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Cross County will face off against Buffalo Island Central at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Harrisburg, they will take on Rivercrest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Harrisburg's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Rivercrest has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
