Baseball Recap: Winfield Takes a Loss

Winfield entered their game against Huntington on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Generals fell 11-7 to the Highlanders. If the Generals were looking for revenge after losing 7-3 to the Highlanders when the teams met back in May of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Blake Withrow was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Austin Blackwell was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Winfield's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Huntington, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winfield will welcome Sissonville at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Huntington, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Boyd County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
