Volleyball Recap: Plainfield Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Plainfield was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 3-0 to the Woodstock Academy Centaurs. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Centaurs from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

While Plainfield ultimately came up short, they really made Woodstock Academy work, particularly in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-22, 25-12.

Loss or not, Plainfield got some senior leadership from Shae Valentin and Paige Sears. Valentin had 27 digs and one assist, while Sears had 13 digs and two aces. Sears has been hot for a while, having also posted 13 or more assists the last 14 times she's played.

Plainfield's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Woodstock Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Woodstock Academy will host Norwich Free Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Plainfield will be paying especially close attention to the Centaurs' contest: after the Centaurs face off against the Wildcats, they'll take on Plainfield again at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
