Basketball Game Preview: Cambridge Lions vs. First Baptist Saints

Cambridge hasn't had much luck against First Baptist recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Cambridge Lions will look to defend their home court against the First Baptist Saints at 7:30 p.m.

Cambridge is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Tuesday. They lost to Ovilla Christian at home by a 68-50 margin. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1496th, while the Eagles are ranked 691st).

Meanwhile, First Baptist came tearing into Thursday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Hawks 74-32. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 20 points or more this season.

First Baptist has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points per game. As for Cambridge, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Cambridge was dealt a bruising 91-16 defeat at the hands of First Baptist in their previous meeting on January 7th. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Cambridge was down 56-9.
