Soccer Recap: Ryan Comes Up Short

Ryan lost against Birdville back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Ryan Raiders fell just short of the Birdville Hawks by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 457th, while the Hawks are ranked 88th).

Ryan's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Birdville, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

The future could be bright for both Ryan and Birdville: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Ryan will try to hand Richland their fifth-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Birdville will look to extend Denton's six-game losing streak when they meet at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
