Football Game Preview: Lone Star Rangers vs. Wakeland Wolverines

Lone Star has gone 8-2 against Wakeland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Rangers will welcome the Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are still undefeated (Lone Star has seven wins , while Wakeland has eight dating back to last season).

On Friday, Lone Star was fully in charge, breezing past Sherman 49-3. Fans of the Rangers have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Lone Star's defense and their five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Marcel Dominguez and Christopher Knauls, who racked up four sacks between them. Knauls has been hot recently, having posted at least one sack the last four times he's played. Another thorn in Sherman's side was Kaleb Tasby, who picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Wakeland earned a 35-28 win over Frisco on Thursday.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Jayden Maples and Cobyn Harbert. Maples had a great game and threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Harbert was balling out in the loss, rushing for six yards and a pair of TDs, while also throwing for 174 yards and one touchdown on only 14 passes.

Lone Star's victory bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Wakeland, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
