Recap: Richard Winn Academy Eagles vs. Laurens Academy Crusaders
The Richard Winn Academy Eagles lost against the Laurens Academy Crusaders back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Richard Winn Academy fell 51-39 to Laurens Academy. Richard Winn Academy has not had much luck with Laurens Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Meagan Brigman, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. Brigman scored a full 30.8% of Richard Winn Academy's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Delaney Young was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
Richard Winn Academy's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 5-3. As for Laurens Academy, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-1.
Richard Winn Academy will head out on the road to face off against Our Lady of the Rosary at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Our Lady of the Rosary is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Laurens Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cambridge Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cambridge Academy will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
