Baseball Recap: Bradford Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Keystone Heights, Bradford was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the P.K. Yonge Blue Wave 5-4. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tornadoes as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ryland Rike made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Bradford is 5-1 when Rike posts two or more runs, but 6-11 otherwise.

Rike wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Patrick Pendarvis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Another was Taylor Bice, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Bradford's win bumped their record up to 11-12. As for P.K. Yonge, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Bradford will take on Palatka at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for P.K. Yonge, they will face off against Newberry at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. This will be the Blue Wave's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
