AAAAAA Region 5 Top Player Performances of the Week

Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!

Josiah Allen Turns in Season-Best Effort

Josiah Allen produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Wheeler to the win on Friday. Allen rushed for 256 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, and also picked up 31 receiving yards and a touchdown, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 68 yards.

Cherokee's probably not too fond of Allen given he always seems to get the better of them. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Allen saw the Warriors), he rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 58 receiving yards.

Savasir Made His Presence Known in Cherokee's 28-27 Loss

Cherokee had to settle for second on Friday, but Tanner Savasir sure wasn't going down easily. Nobody could stop Savasir as he threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 57 yards on only six carries.

Savasir and Cherokee will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on North Cobb at 7:30 p.m. on October 18th. Cherokee had to take a loss when they last met North Cobb, but Savasir had little to do with the loss: he threw for 208 yards and two touchdowns. Can he match (or beat) that performance?
